PC wont enter S3 sleep...

Recently my PC has started refusing to enter S3 sleep. It's worked fine in the past, and I've used it basically since I got this computer. Doesn't seem to be any updates causing the problem, I believe the last updates were a couple days before the problem started.

It's set for S3 in the BIOS, but when I tell it to sleep it seems to go into S1 sleep. I've changed it to S1, and then back, but regardless, it wont go into S3.

I'm not really sure what all to check to try to fix this problem.

I'm running Vista Home Premium. Since I'm not really sure what I need to be checking I'm not sure what other info might be needed, so just ask if there's anything else.

Ha, found the problem... In WMP, if sharing is turned on, it will not enter S3 sleep. Turn sharing off, it will. I figured it might be some sort of service like that. Sucks, because now I'll need to find a new way to have all of my music available to all of the users on this PC without having to copy the entire library.

Oh well... A problem for another day. Now I can go to sleep.

Hi

What Service Pack to Vista do you have? Latest is SP2

As generally this can be a file on the share that just doesnt want to end so is still open and fails to goto sleep see if any are still open when you close all apps down, Computer Management > System Tools > Shared Folders >Open Files

Have you disabled hibernation at any stage (to save HDD space) if so check its one or re-enable it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929658

Have you added any new hardware reciently, say Wifi /Bluetooth mouse keyboard? if you already have a WiFi or Bluetooth Mouse/KB setup try turning them off and seeing if the PC enters S3

Any new software installed around the time this hapened, Anti-Virus, Firewall?
