    All the components of my PC are here:

    I've been trying for the past 5 hours to get the damn thing to power on, but to no avail. I found I had the cpu improperly inserted, but it turns out no damage occured to the cpu (at least no pins were bent), so I figured I'd try the PSU.

    I don't have any wire, so I dropped a staple into the holes for a green wire and a black wire. I tried powering on the PSU this way, but it did not power on.

    Is my PSU shot (never even been used before...), or is the staple not enough?

    If it's because of the staple, what else could I use that's conductive and would fit in the holes for the mobo connector?

    Im lost, WHY are you using staples as a conductor ? and into what exactly?

    :confused::confused::confused:

    The mobo power connector, green wire to black wire, to see if my PSU works or not. I don't have anything else to use as a conductor, and seeing as how I've been unable to find any other problem with my computer, I'm trying to see if it is indeed the (brand new) psu.

    Spent 3hrs trying to figure out WHY the cpu i gave to my friend was working PERFECTLY flawless with my setup and it wouldnt even get a post on his pc. Turns out there were about 20-40 bent pins! When i gave him some thermal paste to apply to it he totaly went ape s*it on it aparently, pushed down on it when it was loose on the socket. After about 30 minutes of friggen sweating off a river between us, plugged it back in and worked flawlessly :). (a64 3700+).

    I didn't take notice to the lever, and applying the heatsink kinda squeezed it. Thankfully though I didn't have any bent pins (as soon as I realized the lever thing, I took off everything and made sure it was still fine, and no pins were bent).

    As to if Itried booting with it like this, of course not because I can't even get anything to power on >_>

    After looking at your system.
    Your choice of PSU, IMO is poor one, Coolmax Generally poor choice to begin with, Ive read many poor reviews on em.
    Today system's, your system, need's a PSU with more Amps on the 12v rail.
    I'd recomend one with dual 12v rail & 12v Amps totaling minimum of say 32amp or so, Your Coolmax is only 22amp on a single 12v rail.
