Computer wont power up, even trying the button several times..
    nothing at all..

Power Supply is still working...the power chord is good..
So, i tried one thing...i've unplugged ATX P9 supply connectors away from
the motherboard and replugged them...within a hour, the power comes on.
not sure why is doing that..but the sounds from the CPU fan sounded like it was hesitating..it was going off and on in every 1-2 seconds.
    please help..
its a DELL DIMENSION 4600/XP HOME/2 years old.
I am fimiliar with Computer...but never got this far..
not sure what kind of proccesor...
computer belongs to a friend of mine, a female and she has no idea..
Dell Tech didnt help her much...so im offering my help and yours too..
    just helping out a friend..thankyou

Have you checked the fan connector?
Along with all the other connectors

What was happening to the pc previously to it not powering up? i.e. what was the last thing being done on it?

When its trying to power up, can you open the cd/dvd drive?

Have you made sure the power buttons connected onto the correct pins on the motherboard?

Any chance of trying a different psu in the system, to make sure the one thats in isent on its way out, so to speak?

    tino,

Try unplugging the PC from the wall socket entirely. Then leave the PC unplugged for 15 to 20 minutes then plug it back in and try a reboot.

My dell did that after about 1-2 years of owning it. After calling Dell, they had me open my system, and pull off the heat sink. Then place it back on. It worked.... Never had another problem.
I just thought to add it whether it can help or not.
    Take Care

I havent done anything to it yet!..

as for the cd/dvd drive!..it wont even open..

the buttons are connected, i thought maybe the button needs a replacement..so i had other buttons on site..ive got a couple of pc's laying around..i worked on them..but still learning..i've used a that button, and nothing worked..

i've pulled out another psu from another pc..and it worked...
so, im thinking of buying a new psu..the original is 250W..do i need to
    buy a much higher Watts??
    thankyou
