This fault has developed recently that when I shutdown my pc it doesn't fully power down; a fan is still running and the power light is still on. Have to flick the switch to get it to power off.

A bit of googling throws up that other mobo owners had a similar issue with Windows 7. Have been running Windows 7 for a while so not sure why it's happening now.

Driving me bonkers this, suggestions welcome. Spec below.

    Asus P5K Premium
    Windows 7 64bit
    Intel Q6600 (overclocked)
    NVIDIA Geforece 8800 GTS
    4GB RAM

Any BIOS updates that might address this issue?

Possibly we can get into BIOS power settings as well.

Does it shut off after a few minutes?

I had a machine do this myself a while back, it is frustrating.

It stays on until I kill the power. Not updated the BIOS as I don't know what i'm doing frankly. Downloading the ASUS Update 7.18.03 as an easy way to do this.

Usually the BIOS update will tell you what it fixes. The standard rule of thumb is to not update it unless it fixes a specific issue you are having.

I found this: You may want to try this before a BIOS flash.

this. I had a similar problem with an asus board that involved the keyboard with WIN 7. If your still having problems shoot them a message on their site using a different computer or you can use the OSKB(although it is really slow)

Asus has really great customer service from my experiences with them.

I am not sure why that is but according to the posts I linked to, you may have to go through device manager and see if there are any Power Management tabs in other devices.
    i.e.

If you do not use firewire, try disabling it in Device Manager but do not uninstall it. See if that helps the shutdown problem.

Is there anything in BIOS that can change Power Managment?

Sorry, I hadn't properly read your post before replying. I had come across that forum previously. I've checked every item in the device manager for power management options and had unchecked the 'allow the computer to turn off this device...' when found against 8 USB Root Hubs. But, didn't work and here I am!

I haven't dug around in the BIOS yet as its not something i'm familiar with. I'll have a look and see if there's something obvious.
