pc wont start.

I think the mobo is dead but i found this pc in the trash so it was worth it for the dual layer dvdr, 160gig hdd and p4 630.


Mobo is a Intel D915GAG/D915PSY I hit the power button and nothing happens. the fans dont twitch or anything. The led just infront of the mobo power connector stays sold green the led is number CR3J1 and i have tested all the rails on the psu and it is working fine. I also read that the mobo can use a 20 pin psu so i tryed my 20 pin 400watt fps that i know is good from another rig i got and still no luck. Same with my 24 pin psu.

CPU is good working on a spare mobo. Ram shouldent be a issue since i cant get any ram error beeps and i made shure the front panel headder is hooked up right and even tryed useing another power switch and shorting the pins for the power switch and nothing.



SO time for a new mobo for it? if so what should i get for it? i would like to use DDR on this sicne im just makeing it from spare parts so a mobo with just DDR or has 2 slots for DDR and DDR2 would be good. and i would like C2D suppoort so i can slap a E4300 in it later.

 

From the sound of it, the Intel mobo is dead and needs replacement. ECS makes good boards, and their prices are low. Check this out: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pr...goryID=1&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=44&LanID=9 It has 2 DDR2 slots, and 2 DDR slots, and an AGP slot and supports C2D CPU's. You can't use DDR2 with DDR at the same tho': one or the other. The price is low too; should be under $70 anywhere....
