pc133 ram running at 100mhz

    System specs:
    Dell demension XPS T450
    Intel P3 450Mhz
    Windows 2k

    Today i decided to have a look at my ram i had 2 chips 1x128mb(pc133) and 1x64mb(pc100)

    The combination of both these means that the rams only run at 100mhz.
    I benchmarked these together because i wanted to take out the 64mb ram and have the 128mb run at 133mhz.

    After i took out the 64mb chip i booted the pc and ran CPU-Z and it told me that my ram was only running at 100mhz.

    Why is this? Its pc133 ram so it should be running at 133mhz.

    I noticed that my FSB was 100mhz. Does ram have to run at the same speed as the FSB?

    I ordered 128mb of pc133 ram a few days ago and i had planned on getting rid of the 64mb chip so i could have 256mn at 133mhz

    Are you sure your motherboard will support PC133 speeds?

    make sure the cpu FSB is running at 133mhz too.

    Agreed, dont think your mobo supports 133 memory, I did a check at Dell Support and the note at bottom reads

    P3 450 ( 100 FSB x 4.5 = 450 ) if he ran 133 FSB he whould be OCed to 600 .... Vary unlickly to boot let alown be stable....and the P3 are hard x locked .....{edit} i just read Halos post .....again i need to read befor posting http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif....

    ok thanks.

    I have thought about overclocking but i would need to upgrade the fan or even install a heatsink and i could not be bothered.
