PcDocRx on Call - Is this reliable?

I did a search on this site for PcDocRx and nothing came up (which I found odd -- so maybe I didn't do a good search) Anyway, has anyone used this? Is it legit? Worthwhile, etc.

    http://www.pcdocrx.net/cgi-bin/view.cgi/google57/index.html

    This is what they say:

In keeping with the revolutionary nature of our "PcDocRx OnCall" service we're introducing a new method of distribution.
There are many other software products which offer some, or all, of the features incorporated into "PcDocRx OnCall". However, until now, you were expected to buy the entire software program regardless of how little you needed to use it!
The proprietary, brand name, shrink-wrapped software that you buy in your local computer shop comes with a high price tag and you don't know what it can do, or whether you need it, until it's installed.
Or there's shareware which has the advantage of a time limited trial period, but then you pay for it even though you may only use it once and never again. If you allow the trial period to expire there's no way to run it once more, unless you buy it, of course.
If you use either type of software described above to run a check for Windows problems and find none why should you pay for the full software package?
With this in mind we devised an entirely new strategy called "LEASEWARE".
We give you the diagnostic tool FREE and you only pay to lease a security key to unlock "PcDocRx OnCall" which fixes the problem - if no problems are found you pay nothing!

Example 1: You download our free test and run it on your PC. Result of the check is NIL problem files. Cost to you = $0.00

Example 2: You download our free test and run it on your PC. Result of the check is 175 problem files in 5 categories. You lease a security
unlock key for 7 days and fix the problems. Cost to you = $29.95

I'm thinking they rarely DON'T find a problem so then you inevitably pay the $29.95 to find out how to fix what they show. But if it's legitimate then you'd want to make the fixes. But since it's not listed here in the "Diagnostic" section....it makes me wonder.

    You are so brave!

Well, that's what I was gonna do myself and then just not buy it (lease it) but was afraid just running the scan would let them do something weird to my programs (tho' I've taken everyone's advice and I have Spyware Blaster so...)

Thanks for being so bold...hey, I'm home sick from work too (strange)

well you ask if this is reliable well in one word NO! ROFLMFAO

i said i was bored and had nothing to do so i guess spending the last 5 hrs reinstalling windows and putting all my stuff back together kept me real busy

i installed the app its basically a reg scanner and its got some crappy half arsed icons of ambulances with a green background
anyway it found one error in reference to a file PUBPLACE.HTT which i googled and it seems to be something to do with MSOFFICE which i dont even use so i decided to uninstall the crap needed to reboot so here comes the good part wjndows wont load system32 is corrupted :p so i run a repair and get into windows yet everything is all to pieces DLLS missing all over the place cant even see my taskbars well to be honest cant see FA the display looks like someone was sick over my desktop all my hardware was not regonized WTF
luckily all my recent stuff i didnt have backed up was still there so just backed up what i needed and decided to reformat forgetting how many updates drivers etc i had to put in and ive only done half my programs I really should have had a back-up drive or something or at least done this on one of my old test machines LOL :D
just going stir crazy i guess

anyway i shall be e-mailing the company and explain politely what i think of their software

so unless your really bored i wouldnt bother with it theres a lot better regcleaners there and a lot cheaper too

I am so very sorry - what a mess. I wouldn't have begun to know what to do if I had tried it. Yeah, you definitely should tell them what you think of their product, maybe by having this posted here others will check here first and then never use it either.

    dont be sorry :)
im not that bothered about it all part of the fun of computers :D

im interested to find out what the response from the author is though

Yeah, let us know what the "author" says -- like they're going to respond anyway.
See that's where I haven't "arrived" yet. I don't see how that would be FUN. I'd be crying. But I'd be on this site typing as fast as I could be (using someone else's computer of course)

Did the authors of this mess ever respond to your query? I had a file, Iadhide3.dll. which came up as a key logger on PestPatrol and did a Copernic search. This PcDocRx came up on the search. Thought I'd check here first and came up with a single hit -- this one.

I'll avoid this drive killer at all costs.

Sorry you got buggered by these clowns.

Whenever I see a statement like, "We give you the diagnostic tool FREE " with the FREE in caps, my usual response is RUN! :)
