PCI-e slots not working

I just installed a new PCI-e sound card in the PCI-e x1 slot and my computer doesn't even recognize it exists. I have tried all three slots (x1, x4, & the 2nd x16 slot) and its still not recognized. A while back I installed a TV card in all three slots and it did not work either. I ended up taking that card back and I may have to do the same with this one if I can't get these slots to work. Do I have to enable something in the BIOS? I've tried looking but I don't see anything I could enable there. And I'm pretty sure everything is up to date as well. : /

 

Try to blow out the dust out of the slots.

You shouldn't have to enable something in the bios.

 

you may also want to make sure your chipset drivers are up to date as well.

 

Is there a way to check what chipset drivers I have? I see one update from about 2 years ago but I'm not sure if I actually have that or not.

 

ok I updated the chipset but still nothing. I flashed and checked in the BIOS again but I didn't find anything there either.

 

Motherboard or chipset could be having issues. I would try and test the card on another pc if you have one.

 

Ugh that sounds just great. I don't have another PC to test it on, but I'm pretty convinced that the card is fine. It did the same thing with that TV card I mentioned earlier. I guess I'll blow out the dust tomorrow and if that doesn't work, I'll have to take the card back and get a regular PCI card. Unless anyone else has an idea?
