This thread is from 2009 so I am starting a new one. Interesting I have the same question today.

My Video Card - Nvidia GeForce 7200 is nearing end of life. I am not a gamer, so the 256 MB has been sufficient for the last 5 years or so...

Here is my Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L

It states I have a PCI Express x16 slot and 3 PCI Express x1 slots.

I am looking at a NVIDIA 9500 or 9600 and they say that they are PCI Express 2.0 x16.

From the other thread, it was recommended that the 9500 would work.

    Edit
After looking again, the 1 GB 9500 is the choice I am steering toward.

Opinions from other Geeks?!? Or other sources for a solution under $25.... :major

What do you want to use it for? I have a 9400 and a Radeon X1950. The X1950 is the better card but I couldnt get it to work with HD video because of HDCP problems. the 9400 does work but I do occasionally get audio/video sync issues

I do web surfing and audio playback on a Linux box. The 7200 works well except the newer drivers are getting harder to force to work. I boot occasionally into VM Win XP and do have a 22 inch HP screen.

All PCI-E cards will work you only run into problems when installing a newer card on an older motherboard as the older 1.0/2.0bandwidth limits the card.

I'd go with anything:-D Any card that's cheap or on offer that has a HDMI output.

If you are only having problems with drivers then I wouldnt worry. Just dont update your drivers. You should only update them when you have a problem. If your drivers work with your system then dont update. Sometimes new drivers can cause problems. Stick with the ones you have unless you you have GPU problems.

If you do want to upgrade then, as Rikky says, get any PCI Express.
