Hi guys I hope you can help.

I have a m4a785td-v evo motherboard and just bought a xfx r7 260x graphics card. The problem I have now is I cannot get power to the card, have done some research and now think the issue is I need a pci express power cable. What cable do I need? And where would I put it into my motherboard for power?, the card needs a 6 pin.

The card has a slot which would take a 6 pin. From the power supply I have 1 spare 4 pin and one slotted into the motherboard, my question is If I get a 6 pin PCIe would I need an adaptor to go to the 4 pin from my PSU?

    Thanks
    H

PS I’m running Windows 8.1 Pro

What you need is a Molex (HDD power connector) to PCIe 6 pin converter/adapter, these normally utilise 2x Molex connectors to feed the PCIe card. http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i:aps,k:molex pci-e adapter

But, if you have an older design of PSU, you could be borderline on whether it would safely supply the graphics card (and a weak, stressed PSU could damage many other components!). A good quality, modern PSU of 450W is needed to safely run an R7 260X with an AMD CPU.
