My computer gives me the "PCI Express card is operating in x1 mode..." message during startup. Also I have frequent random computer freezes with no errors. Scans (when they can actually complete) don't reveal much. I get the BSOD when I try to start recovery console. I get the "Loading PBR for descriptor 2...done" message during boot-up. Now a fan is winding up really loud when I start up after the freeze. The first message I mentioned is making me think I have a bad video card. Are these symptoms of a bad card?

Some more info would be great.... make/model of video card; make/model of motherboard; PSU make/model/specs; OS version and service pack; etc.

This happened to me as well. I tried everything but to no avail. Try openin the computer and cleaning the inside (remove dust) check the components take them out and put them back in SECURELY. Make sure u ground urself.
