PCI Express X1 TV Tuner card

Got a ASUS k8S-MX mother board. Its got only 2 PCI slots with one PCI express X1 slot on top of the AGP slot. With an AGP card in, the 1st PCI is useless and the other one is used by a sound card. i was looking forward to using a TV tuner card on system. On old DELL systems I have seen what they call "riser" cards which allow for mode PCI cards to be installed. is there something similar that I can use for this system? further if not possible, can i find a tv tuner card on the PCI express X1 ?

AMD 64 3000
ASUS K8s-MX mobo,
512 MB DDR RAM
120 GB SATA HDD
128 MB nVidia
SoundBlaster Live 5.1
running on XP Pro

 

Why not just remove the sound card, you have intgrated sound on the board and it isn't really that bad. I mean it does 5.1.

Also there is a good chance the system won't respond well to installing an AGP and a PCI express card. Although I really don't know if it will work.

As for the riser cards those are for servers and they usually come with the board, they arn't meant to be installed in other systems, and usually won't work unless the board intended for them to be used.

There may be a pci-e video tuner card that you could buy, but I haven't seen any yet (I haven't been looking midn you). Of course there is a good chance the ocmputer only allows either the AGP or the PCIE slot to work. It might not allow both to work at the same time.

 

Thnx. I'll check with ASUS on the PCI Express issue. Have not found any tv tuner PCI Express myself but hopeful
