I just have a question about how compatible are the two? I have a pci dell but I have no clue what type of motherboard I have, but if it's PCI can I install a PCI express video card? Mine seems to work but sometimes when I play some games like half of the body from the character is cut out, it's only a 128 video card, and I've been told there are no upgrades for PCI, please help. :)

Well thank you for the detailed explanation, it never hurts to learn some of this stuff, but I do have a very quick question, what would be the thing to do to upgrade my video card from what I have? As far as in a more moderate price, and if I do have to go with PCI express do I have to change all the parts out in my pc as well?

All we know is that your computer is a Dell. In order to answer your question, we have to also note the model and the numbers behind it so we can find out the hardware configuration.

As far as upgrading video, it is not necessary to change all the parts in your computer. There might be an exception to that, though. Most brand name computers put in power supplies that are adequate assuming nothing changes. Depending on the card, you might need to put in a more powerful power supply.

Worst case scenario is that you will have to buy a new MB, PSU and maybe case.

According to the Dell website the Dimension 3000 only has PCI slots, so I would recommend the card PapaDuke posted. Also, Because this is a Dell enterprise-level system it may be very hard to swap or modify components, as Dell make these units to a non-standard specification in most cases.

Your PSU should be ok, because this card will not draw much power at all from the MB.
