I've recently reformatted my computer, only to find that it will no longer register my second PCI slot and that it barely registers my 3 PCI slot. I don't know what happened, but my second PCI slot won't register any cards I put into it, and my third has registered my graphics card but not my sound card. None of my slots will register my sound card, to boot.

I'm getting very annoyed at not having any sound what so ever. . . If any of you know how to help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Not enough information provided! What OS are you running? Did you reinstall the motherboard chipset drivers? Under Device Manager are there any devices with exclamation points denoting problems? :)

Running Windows XP as my OS. My computer did not have a CD for the motherboard chipset.

as Novice is suggesting, you need to go to your motherboard (or computer company) website and get the drivers for your system. Windows loads generic drivers on a fresh reformat and sometimes doesnt have drivers for certain things.

Could you help me find out what my motherboard is? I tried finding it when a friend asked a while back, and still haven't been able to.

    I do. I know. It's sad.

I did some research on my mother board, it's a ASUS P4G533-LA motherboard. . . Apparently, they released this board, no drivers for it and set it into the computer I was unfortunate to buy.

Yeah. . . HighPrice Compcrap. . . I bought it about year ago when I wanted a computer. Little did I realise how bad it would turn out for me. I'm going to staples and complaining about how horrible the package they sold me was (mostly the absolute lack of any support CD's at all, beyond the "recovery CDs", which don't work.).

He, I feel the same way as you ACE256. Pyrate, I tried downloading intel's chipsets. I also installed them, via the normal install process, and nothing has changed. Could someone tell me if I did something wrong or give useful advice on something else I could try?
