PCIE Overclock BIOS setting

I've read reports other places about this setting, but does anyone here have experience with it? On my motherboard, it offers a setting from 100-250, with 100 being the default. From what I read on the net, I changed it to 115 (120 being the absolute maximum recommended) along with a slight overclock on my 8800GT from stock 600/1500/900 to 700/1750/920.

I've had the GPU overclock for about a month now but I just overlocked the PCIE frequency. 2D uses such as tab switching in Firefox and window minimizing/maximizing are noticeably quicker with the PCIE 115 setting.

I'm currently GPU + CPU folding while keeping an eye on the temps (currently 51C CPU, 60C GPU). I will report back tomorrow with temp info and if either of the F@H apps crashed (which would prove instability).

You're doing fine so far man! I have no idea what client you are running. Sounds like you're running a uniclient.;) Run and enter 6.34 -smp to the startup. That ought to get things going big time!:p Over 70C is not good but is discretionary, over 80C is wasting money..

Be careful overclocking the PCIe bus. On most motherboards it controls the base frequency of every PCIe device on the system not just the video one(s). Some devices are rather tolerant to higher PCIe frequencies, but others like sata/HDD controllers react badly with too high of a frequency leading to hard drive corruption and lost data (os and all). This effect is very similar to the AGP/PCI divider overclocking problems of old. Is your video card running over 16x? If so its hard to imagine even a large overclock making any difference in 3D let alone 2D. Perhaps you can run a few 2D benchmarks to verify?
