I use AcroPDF in windows, but will it work in Linux(ubuntu dapper or sabayon?) or is there something similar I can make pdf documents with?

Strange, I don't have the PDF options when printing in open office. I have something that will view PDF's, it's just a document viewer.

    Don't know why I don't have it.

    Sorry bout that--
It should be under FILE>EXPORT as PDF then a box appears asking where to save the file to -- name it save it and you should be good to go.

    What distro are you running

That worked, thank you. I'm still trying to get the cups-pdf to work, but the export works just fine.

    I'm running kubuntu 6.06
