    Hello,

Please help! Here is the situation...

My computer, which formerly was the basis for a peer-to-peer network, can not talk to the other computers on the network. We just replaced the network card this morning, because yesterday it couldn't connect to the network at all. We verified that it wasn't the cables. The "server" computer, does register that this computer is on the network. I have access to shared internet (through DSL), and the network was working on this machine up until an hour ago. The only thing I did between now and then was download printer drivers and share my printer. Windows Network Troubleshooter does not work on this machine. All other computers work on the switch and have no problems accessing the network or DSL. All the lights are green, indicating that the connection is good.

This is a computer used for a work environment. Buying additional equipment is an option, but not one that my employer wishes to explore at this time. Ideally, we'd like to make this machine work.

    Here are the specs:

    This machine...

    MS Windows 98
    HP Brio BA 200
    64 MB Ram
    Intel Celeron Processor

Network card: 32bit Desktop network PCI card 10/100 BT made by Belkin.

    The server...

    HP Compaq dc5000 MicroTower
    1G Ram
    Windows XP Professional
    Intel Pentium 3.s ghz/800 mhz
    Broadcom netxtreme gigabit ethernet solution

The switch: CompUSA 8-port 10/100 mbps

    Thanks for your time!

    Hey,

I just want to let everyone know I fixed my problem. Here's how I did it.

    1. Go to Network Neighborhood.

    2. Right click and choose "Client for Microsoft Networks"

    3. Click Properties.

    4. Click "Log on to Windows NT domain" and name your server.

    5. Reboot.

    6. Logon with your username and password. It will display and error message proclaiming that the server can't authenticate your password. Click ok.

    7. Wait for it to boot up. After a few minutes, you should be able to access the network.
