You got that right, xsplat, I got him fired. I ordered my "replacement" Dell 6/30 and it arrived last Friday at dinnertime. I was leaving for a wedding and then leaving at 5 am for vacation (I'm at a friend's computer and it's so nice to be remembered).

I had checked on the status of my comp. 3 days after begging for it and noticed the specs posted on their site were not correct (didn't match the computer I had) So I called about it only to be told "of course you're getting the same computer". A week late it didn't arrive so I checked the specs and they were still different. This "new" one had no modem, no CD-Rom Drive and about 5 other things. "No problem they said, you are getting the same computer with all the same things."

It arrived, No cd-rom, not modem, no floppy drive..., no this, no that....who put this computer together??? How do they expect me to use it?

Now I'm away til next week and can't even send it back (supposedly you pay for it if not returned in 10 days) OH WELL DELL - you'll be getting another call.

The true joy of buying a computer in a box. I had a similar experience with Compaq when I bought my machine. I absolutely hate being at the mercy of a company that truely does not care, or feeds me BS. Hang in there!! I've almost got enough saved to get a new box custom built...I can't wait.

 

That's one of the reasons that I build my own. I know what's in it, I can fix it myself, and I don't have to call Bombay for lame tech support. If a component dies, I swap the component, not gamble on a whole new box full of problems.

Sorry about your headaches Pegg. Not much consolation, but you're sure not alone in your frustration.
