Hi! I've decided to install linux on my usb flash drive to run portable aps (antivirus, etc). I managed installing this http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2007/11/04/usb-pendrive-linux-install-from-windows/ method. I have XP. It seems to run fine. I copied Avast antivirus: http://pendriveapps.com/2007/03/31/avast-virus-cleaner-virus-and-worm-removal-tool/#more-57 and then I copied stinger: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ tried to run them and I get a "couldn't display "/live_media/stng380.exe". error I have been unable to find any info on installing portable aps, and also I am not able to access my C: drive, I can see it and click on it but not access it???:confused

Linux doesn't use .exe files, it's a complete operating system.:) If you go into the Control Centre you'll see an option for software management. Hopefully you will find an equivalent programme there.
Viruses aren't such a big issue in Linux, it's more immune than windows,as only the root user can change system settings. Just make sure you log in as guest.
I don't know stinger so can't help there.

Check out www.mandriva.com for more info, pendrivelinux is based on Mandriva.
