Pentium 1 without a fan

    I got a pentium 1 MMX with a heatsink on it and it gets pretty hot but it has never overheated yet shoukd i keep running it like this or should i put a fan on it.It had a fan on it but it went out i have one of those...old packard bell CPU....Please Help! :)

    If it were me, I would put a fan on it, as heat is a computers worst enemy.

    P1's don't get hot enough to qualify requiring a fan. But, you can add one if you like. Won't make any different mind, unless you're overclocking it.

    I had a PIII 800. I installed a huge coolermaster heatsink on it. Later the fan died and because my case was fairly cool my cpu temps stayed below 100F. It got to like 105F under full load. Just remember this was with a huge coolermaster heatsink, not the small crappy heatsink that came with it. If you got a good heatsink then you should have no probs.

    are you able to touch it with your finger?

    if yes, then no fan is needed



    currently have a *thing* the call The Pentium, clocked at 90mhz, and it's running bare, not heatsink whatsoever
