Pentium M vs Pentium 4

Hey everyone. Can anyone tell me how the Pentium Ms compair to the Pentium 4s? I'm getting a Pentium M 2.0ghz with my Dell Inspiron 6000, and I'm hoping it performs well. I thought I read somewhere that Pentium Ms will start replacing the P4s. Are there any test comparisons between the two?

 

the pentium M was actually compared to the amd mobile proc in this magazine i just got recently, maximumpc if u ever read it. I dont know how it compares to the p4 but it is better than the amd, better battery life, performance, etc.

 

Its better than the P4 as well.

The Yonah is better than both

The Pentium M @ 1.6GHz left the Pentium IV @ 2.6GHz in the dust for most tests! The closest competition at the time was the Athlon64 @ 2.0GHz.

Basically, it's a sweet processor.

 

Whoa, thats pretty cool. And thats a Pentium M 1.6ghz with 1mb L2 cache. I can't wait to test my Pentium M 2.0 ghz with 2mb L2 cache. My laptop is probably going to be faster than my desktop P4 2.53ghz. Nice....



By the way, what's Yonah? I looked it up in Wikipedia and it sent me to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core which is way too deep for me to understand.

 

Its the replacement for the Pentium-M. Basically, its a dual core Pentium M.

Apple uses them. Not sure if anyone else does yet.

 

the m series is definatly far superior than a standard p4
