I don't know how these people can look their constituents in the eye when they knock on their door at election time and politely claim that they have your best interests at heart. Whatever. They are all the same, greedy, power hungry little time wasters with their own interests at heart. Let them knock on my door next year when they want my vote. They'll be told where to shove their campaign. All of them.
As you can probably tell, this kind of story boils my wee wee.
Why can't we just get someone who cares about the public for a change? These people are supposed to represent us. You have, of course, highlighted the sleaziest part of this, Halo. Public accountability. Why shouldn't they declare their expenses? What's to hide? We, as you quite rightly say, pay their 'wages'.
As I once stated in another thread a while back, anyone who wants to be a politico should be banned from being one. Ever.

 

Honestly Joey, I believe that most politicians think the laws are for us common folks, not for them. Many of them seem surprised when they are questioned about their income, expenses, and such.

As for common folk, most politicians are common folk, they've just forgotten their roots. Gordon Brown is only a minister's son. With that kind of background, you'd think he'd show a bit more compassion for us lesser mortals.
