I have had spyware on my computer for atleast a year now and I have used all of the programs to get rid of it. Ad-aware and spybot got rid of most of the spyware, but I am still getting the tracking cookies everytime I run Ad-aware. (And they multiply quickly if I dont delete them every day. ) I even tried reformatting my hard drive, and somehow the spyware came back and I was right back where I started. (How could this have happened?) I dont understand how reformatting wouldnt work, since it should be like buying a new computer. (I ran ad-aware on my dad's computer and no spyware or tracking cookies were found.) I downloaded Mozilla explorer but I still need to use Internet Explorer. Someone told me that I would have to get a new ip address in order to stop the tracking cookies from coming back. It also seems to make my computer run slower if I dont delete the files enough. I followed the instructions on this website for eliminating spyware, but I am still having problems. If anyone could please respond with any information on this subject it would be great.. Thanks...

Well Most any website will place a cookie on your computer. You can block ALL cookies with Security settings in "Tools" -> "Internet Options". BUT if you block ALL cookies certain sites will not work, especially email sites(Yahoo, Hotmail, etc..)

    Hi Margirl,

DaRkKn1qHt is right - its hard to avoid tracking cookies.

If you enable the Immunize feature on Spybot SD, it'll block some of the worst offenders. Also, using C Cleaner on a regular basis will flush a number of things, including cookies. Keep in mind that it flushes ALL cookies - even the ones you may want to keep.

But with CCleaner, you can set it to keep the ones you want.
