Permission failure

I have been attempting to set up identical file structures on my desktop PC (Dell Inspiron 530 running Vista Ultimate) and my laptop (Inspiron 9200 running Vista Ultimate). They are networked through my Visteon wireless home network.

I have set up both to allow access. Access from the DT to the LT works fine. I can move and delete folders and files on both computers. The problem is I cannot get access from the LT to the DT. I can see the drives, but when I try to access the C-drive I am denied permission. FWIW, I can use 'remote desktop' from the LT to access the DT. I just can't get in via the network.

Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

BTW, one other thing. I had used the LT at work and it had been configured for the business network. I set up a new user account that I log in to. The old work user account still exists, but there are no files in it anymore.

 

Create the same userid on the laptop that exists on the desktop and make sure they are both in the administrators group. What is FWIW?

 

Thanks, I'll try making the user ids the same. I saw FWIW used for 'for what it's worth' somewhere and I've used it from time to time.

 

Sorry....I guess I'm just not well versed on all TEXT vernacular.

When you are denied permission from the laptop...it doesn't give you a login prompt?
