Permissions prob

For years I've always kept three OSs on my main machine, currently XP, W7 and W8. To keep things manageable all OSs share the same data files - one My Docs, one Music, one Favs and so on. However as a result of the improved security in W7, W8 is sometimes refused permission to access individual files in these common folders, i.e. files created by W7.

It's easy enough to change an individual file's permissions to allow W8 access, but when this problem affects hundreds of files it is impractical to do this on a file by file basis. What I would like to be able to do is change permissions for all files in subfolders of any selected folder, in this case Favorites, based on the permissions granted to the top folder in the tree, but as far as I can see this isn't possible.

But am I missing a trick here? Seems to me it must be possible.

There's a link in the Security tab which does exactly what I wanted, just couldn't see the wood for the trees. Thanks anyway.
