sorry, I'm kinda new at this stuff. i hope i'm in the right forum. My computer will occasionally unexpectedly jump to bla bla bla myexexex.com. : a porn site. I've run Adaware and Spybot and it goes away for a while but then returns. Yes, I sometimes look at porn. It returned again tonight after i thought I got rid of it a few days ago, and since that time I have not been to any porn sites (Honest!). Can anyone hlp me to permanently get rid of it?

Joe, Immunize does not mean update. Xflat wants you to use the immunize feature within SpyBot S&D that will protect you from bad websites by placing them in your restricted zone in Internet Explorer. Run SpyBot and click on Immunize and follow the directions.

I've updated, immunized, downloaded Spywareblaster, run Adaware and spybot, and crapcleaner, and DARN IT! This BHO is back again tonight. What am I doing wrong?

Later I'm going to ask you to reset your web settings, if you do not know how to do that go here:
    http://www.pestpatrol.com/Support/HowTo/How_To_Clear_a_Hijack.asp
and under the Search Hijacks section see the info on "Reset Web Settings" and remember or print this info. But don't do it, until I tell you later.

Okay from this point on do not connect to the internet in anyway until I say it is okay.

    Boot in safe mode: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406

    Then:
    1) run Ad-aware clean what it finds
    2) run SpyBot S&D clean what it finds
    3) run HijaakThis and fix this lines:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O8 - Extra context menu item: &iSearch The Web - res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\toolbar.dll/SEARCH.HTML
    O16 - DPF: {9EB320CE-BE1D-4304-A081-4B4665414BEF} (MediaTicketsInstaller Control) - http://www.mt-download.com/MediaTicketsInstaller.cab

Did you or an Administrator place these below restrictions or are you using SpyBots Home Page and Option lock features? If so, leave these two. Otherwise you might want to remove them.
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

I would not touch the two below, but I'm wondering why they look like this. I've never seen this before with the SpybotSDDisabled stuck on the end of something else. Anyone else have an opinion?
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll__SpybotSDDisabled (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5CA3D70E-1895-11CF-8E15-001234567890} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswshx.dll__SpybotSDDisabled (file missing)

Now reset your web settings, as I mentioned at the beginning.

Now reboot normally and lets see where we are at. Try using the internet again.

I might be in over my head. And my printer is out of ink. I'll give it a try now. Thanks for your patience.....

Take your time. You can always copy my procedure to a notepad file and just review it as necessary while following the steps.

Thanks. That seems to have corrected the problem for me, BUT when i logged on to my wife's settings it came back. Do I have to repeat the process for all users?Users are me, wife, and 11 year old daughter (whom I don't want seeing this crap)

Yes, you probably have to do that. Each user on a machine has there own settings and things they load thus you have some more work to do.
