Pesky icon.

Hello:

I keep getting an icon on my desktop labled "~". It will not open. Under properties it's name is "~". And the type of file is "file". I ran Adaware & a virus check. Either it is embedded in my system or it is getting past my Norton firewall. Any suggestions?

In addition to what halo said, ...

Do you routinely check your Temp folder (Docs and Setts, Username, Local Setts, _ , to make sure it's cleaned out? If you've rebooted since the last installation of anything, taking out whatever's in there that Windows will LET you take out (you can't delete tmps that are in use) is a good idea. Temp files can cause an amazing amount of grief, and lots of progs, esp installs, do a rotten job of housekeeping after they generate a ton of tmps.

Just a question-suggestion.

Thank you for the advice. I've deleted all of the temporary files & have installed an OE patch.
