Why is Pest Patrol so slow to update. It is by far the slowest to update on my P2/400 W98SE. I know that my system is old, but this software is far slower than any other program that I update regularly. It takes an average of nearly 22 minutes to go through the update procedure. I reckon I could download a new copy of Pest Patrol and then the updates and it would probably take the same time. Zone Alarm, Spybot, AdAware and Avast take nowhere near this time. Is it bad programming? The 2 dat files, PPFile.dat and PPinfo.dat take 12 minutes and 5 minutes respectively. I assume that they download new complete dat files and not just update them. Easier for them I assume, but slow for users. Avast can do it, why can't Pest Patrol? Bazza

Could be that their servers can't cope, I suppose. I don't think so, as their 2 dat files take 17 minutes between them to download. I never have any trouble accessing their site. It is slow when you are on. Not many MG 'ers mention PP in their arsenal of software to combat nasties, so I can't guage how popular it is. Bazza
