    So i was cleaning out my friends comp (which is very much infected with spyware and ad ware and a few worms to that Pest Patrol found.) And when it runs through deleting the files it finds in registry, it sayd that it cant because the regedit was disabled by the admin. how can i change that so that PP can delete what it needs?

    you could try booting it in safe mode and runing it again

    I have found that after running everything first Pest Patrol, Spy Bot, Ad Aware, and after all of that if it can still not get rid of everything then if you run HIJACKTHIS and delete it all and then run Pest Patrol again it should work.

    What version of Windows?

    Your registry key is probably modified to disable:

    HKCU\Sofware\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersions\Policies
    and search for "DisableRegedit

    Value needs to be set to 0.

    I made this inf for Windows XP, but should work on other OSes, I do believe. Nonetheless, its at your own risk.

    If registry tools have been disabled, regedit won't work for the above suggestion.

    IF that is the case, unzip this inf to your desktop, right click and choose install. This is what it contains:

    [version]
    signature="$CHICAGO$"

    [DefaultInstall]
    AddReg=AddMe

    [AddMe]

    HKCU, "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System","DisableRegistryTools",6

    That is terrible advice. HijackThis is a tool for advanced users only, deleted everything it finds will mess up a system pretty bad. If you don't know what you're talking about don't mislead someone like that. :rolleyes:

    I am sorry about that comment, I should have been more clear.
