Peter "Perfect" Brock died as a result of a rally car accident, yesterday lunchtime, aged 61. A hero of mine, as he drove Holdens (GMH), very fast, on the racetrack.

9 time winner of the Sandown 500 and 9 times winner of the Bathurst 1000 race (including 6 times in 7 years). 3 times Australian Touring Car champion.

Bathurst is probably the toughest street racing circuit in the world, IMHO, and is run on the second Weekend in October each year.

Peter becomes the third great Aussie to die in the last week or so. Don Chipp, a revolutionary politician was first, then followed by Steve Erwin and now Australia's greatest saloon car driver.

A really sad day ( and week), for all Aussies. Bazza

Well Bazza lets just hope that the saying ALL bad things come in three's is true. I know for small nation's like Canada & Australia the loss of a Icon hits the nation hard, our thoughts are with you Bro

Just heard that Michael Schumaker is retiring from F1 at the end of this season "while he is at the top". Wish Brocky had done the same, or at least sorted out how his car handled, before entering that rally. R.I.P., Brocky. Bazza

Peter Brock will be buried today, in a Victorian State funeral.
    Farewell Brocky.
All motorsport fans will really miss you. Bazza

Although I have been a Ford fan all of my life it was a very sad day when Brocky lost his life. For the first time ever it will not bother me this year when Holden win at Bathurst(as they probably will again), I hope they do as a tribute to their greatest driver. R.I.P Brocky you will be missed by all motorsport fans

    R.I.P Peter Brock!

I watched the funeral live on 7, I was actually getting a little emotional when they showed his family, his son trying to pull it together.

2 Great australian's, die within a week, both from accidents, both have a HUGE fanbase, and people that just like them both without being a fan, like me for example.

Both also aussie household names, although Mr Irwin was renouned further around the country, it doesn't mean anything to compare against when they both are not here! :(

    RIP

    :(

Yes, a very sad loss for Australia. :( Apart from a distinguished stock car racing career, second to none, he did a LOT for charity, the needy, and safety education, ironically.

    R.I.P., Peter 'Perfect' Brock.:(
