Phobia

I've discovered that I've got an intense phobia of moths. I got a great big white one in my room today and it scared the bejesus outta me. I've got no idea why... its just sorta... freaky ... now its hidden down the side of my book case and I'm worried tat its going to come out at some random time and eeuurrghhh *shudders* its just SCARY!

Like I said, its a phobia. The irrational fear of somthing. Its not like moths are actually dangerous or anything, (well, maybe for clothes...) I just think they're weeirdd.

I also have a phobia of underwater grates. I know... weird.... and I've got no idea why but I can't stand going under water and touching them... it makes me feel really odd. I don't like swimming over them either.

 

Whats an underwater gate?

I have a phobia of being in really closed tight places with a bunch of people. It doesn't happen all the time so I guess i'm kind of Claustrophobic.

Also... I don't know if I would count this as a phobia. But i'm really afraid of elevators.

 

I spect it would count...

Underwater grate... as in... the sort you use for pool filters and stuff... and to drain the pool. Like a sort of drain but underwater. I really don't know why I'm so frightened of them, but I am.

I'm only consumed with Acro and Arachniphobia. Heights and Spiders. Can't stand em.

My fear of heights is really odd though...It occurs when I'm more than about 10 feet off the ground. The odd part is, I'm completely comfortable in airplanes and looking off the tops of skyscrapers (Sears Tower for example). I never understood why my mind works like that.

Me I don't like being on the edges of things with no barriers, have to do the belly crawl thing to look over the edge (roof, Grand Canyon,etc). Don't mind planes though. And don't like movie theatre seats. Germs. <shudder>

 

Yeah, I dont have a problem with heights, my dad being a rigger, I'm used to them. Rather ironically, my dads rigging company is called Vertigo! (Rigging involves going very high up and making heavy things fly ! Like sets in theaters... or Bond cars in the Science Museum... or Pergeot 306es on top of the OXO tower... etc. )

Moths. Blehhh. Finally got rid of that nast big white one. I caught it in a glass and hurled it out the window... and then it came back in again! I repeated this process twice, until it eventually left me alone. grrr

 

My grandfather was a 3 star General in the country I was born.

He told me a story once he said

Son I have fought in several wars. I have also discovered that I am not afraid of anything but just one thing.

I have fought against many powerful adversaries, hand to hand, with knives machetes and guns.

I have even faced the occult. I have not been afraid of that either.
then he said the only thing that I am afraid of is

Stupid People.

Why I asked?
















Because there are just to freaking many of them you cannot win that battle


I have not yet found what my phobias are. I guess I do not have any

The only thing i'm currently afraid of (or partially afraid of... ) is some huge bug that attacked me last night. It was dark, and i was browsing the internet, with my monitor set on lowest possible brightness, then this huge bug comes from somewhere behind my monitor really fast, and flies right into my eye going close to as fast as i think it could go, then it attacked my monitor and speakers, then the back of my neck..........

 

maybe it was a huge flea

 

It attacked your monitor AND your speakers?!?!! My god...If that had happened to me, that bug would be drawn and quartered, and it's remains would be left outside as an example for any other trouble makers.

 

Oh yeah, another phobia I have: My appendix bursting and me not knowing about it until it's too late.

 

the only real fear I have is june bugs landing on me. they have these things one their legs that seem like they are attaching themselves to your skin.

thats not really a fear i guess...but it does give me the jeebeez...

 

I've heard in certain areas there are flying cockroaches


Encounters with those would send me running for the hills

I just remembered when I was Ibiza many years ago out for a twilight walk and getting "buzzed" by what I thought was a bird (hmm, thrush size) and it was a freaking big moth. I wanted to go home RIGHT then!!!!

We grew up with them they are called wetas and this one is bout 4" long!

 

My biggest phobia,, is someday finding out that I am afraid of something.

 

The only thing i fear is stupid people. I break out in cold sweats over it daily...

 

to all those with aracnophobia dont come to hawaii. the spider we had last night had a three inch BODY and easy six inch legs.

gottheit :- ive had my appendix burst and believe me there is plenty of warning !!

acjones :- are 'june bugs' the same thing as 'love bugs' ? when i was in texas there were swarms of black bugs with red heads that were joined together (hence love bug?). they were attracted to white things and as i was fresh from england an that sorta blue white that we have they kept swarminjg on me. getting in my hair. it was horrible. i had to buy a screen for the frront of the car to stop them clogging the ....(whatever)

myself, i have a phobia about slugs. i cannot go near them or step over them even. i cant kill them coz i cant get close enough to even sprinkle salt on them.!

PS. i know how to CURE phobias if anybody is interested.

goldy. there is a perfectly good reason for you to be afraid of underwater grates. they can have quite powerful suckers underneath them, and small children have been killed because they have been unable to get out of the flow, and stuck at the bottom.

 

I can explain the grate thing, after all he is a goldfish, what if he got sucked into the pool filter?

Guess that would be the reason, but its not like I've ever seen it happen or anything, or particularly heard about it either. I just know I feel quasy when I swim over one... *shudders*
