Phone Rings imediately after the Modem disconnects

    Why does the phone ring immediately after the modem disconnects? Pick up the phone and I hear static/buzzing noise. Caller ID shows my home phone number as the caller. Why? :confused :confused

    I have a Compac Presario S4010OM with an internal Lucent Win modem. I do have a Best Data brand modem in my really old AST Advantage computer that I never use. That is V-90 compatable.

    Wanted to edit my first post but it wouldn't allow me to do that.
