A friend is using Windows 2000 sp4 and has recently gotten into digital photos and is looking for some software. One things he really needs is to be able to lighten and/or darken a chosen photo, Plus red-eye removal and the general stuff. I was going to give him PhotoMeister (http://www.majorgeeks.com/PhotoMeister_d5034.html) mainly because it looks like it's easy to use which is REALLY important as he isn't really that savvy. He's not quite a noob, either though.... Anyway, if anybody has some other apps to suggest, I'd love to hear about 'em.
    Thanks.

Oh yeah, freeware only please ;)

What I use on a very frequent basis is Photo Toolkit (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Photo_Toolkit_d5690.html) It has a great deal of good features, some of which I havent found in other apps (and trust me I tried alot!)

Not to mention, its easy enough for even me to useLOL

For free stuff, I agree with Musky, PhotoFiltre is a good program.

Thanks for the recommendations.... what I've done is given him a choice of 4 different free apps. I said "use each one a few times and keep the one that does what you need and is the easiest". So we'll see what he keeps out of the following programs: PhotoFiltre, PhotoMeister, Photo Toolkit, and PhotoScape. All of 'em can be found right here at Major Geeks and 3 of the 4 have ratings over 4.0 so I'm sure he'll like one of 'em.
    Thanks again!

    Hi dlb

I know you have some great apps suggested and I like many of them, but to mix the pot up a bit I have 2 options, the software one in XNView as its my fav and a new option in Adobe Photoshop Express (beta), while this is online only, it means you can access it anywhere and you get storage space for photos and albums too, with the basic power of Photoshop for editing your images, been using this for a few weeks and it has some simple but great options, downside is needing a good internet connection.
