I've been using Windows 10 along with Photoshop 7 and the Epson Scanner driver since 2017 without problems. I stopped using Photoshop last summer and have just this week started using it again.

Now when I scan at full resolution without first doing a scan preview, the scanner runs, scans, and the carriage returns to the Home position. Then I get a message that the scanner cannot complete the scan. If I do first do a preview scan and then scan, the scan completes but then something hangs the system for around 20-25 seconds before Photoshop displays the image. During that time, the top of the Photoshop window says "Not responding...".

This doesn't happen if I scan without anything on the scanner plate, nor did it happen when I moved the scanner to another computer, one that runs Vista. What has changed since August 2019 and now is that Windows 10 has updated itself twice and is now Version 10.0.18363 and I think that is the problem.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? It appears to me that Windows is slowly trying to kill off older software :( .
