Im just creating an image and I was wondering how I can make the white areas around the images below transparent. Im wanting to use it as a sig in a forum and the background colour of the page is black, with the little white corners which are not part of the image it will look rubbish.

    I have Adobe Photoshop CS2.

    Thanks in advance...

just using that Jpeg its a little hard, i'd have to use the Background Eraser tool and do it by hand.

If you have the original PSD file, you shoudl be able to make the background of the layer transparent (in layer properties I believe)

If you use the Magic Wand Tool, hold down CTRL and click each of the corners to highlight them, then once all are highlighted, right click the midle of the main image and select Inverse > Layer Via Copy and then Delete the Background image from the Layer list and the image left will have a transparent background, then save as Gif.

Should look like this, thats if this is what your after?

I have edited the PSD ( which was better than that JPG ) for you it took a bit longer than I thought as I needed to delete the while background and Merge the two images, then do what I did above but this time saved as PSD for you. IF saving as GIF make sure on the save dialog that Transparency is ticked ( dont save as JPG as they dont save transparency, GIFs can ge used on websites )

    Hope that works out.

Sorry I edited my post just now to refelect that question, JPGs dont do transparency sadly. Gifs are a little larger but better quality that JPGs anyway, especially if using in WWW.
