PHP not working?

So i installed apache 2.2 on my new computer, installed PHP(and edited the apache config), and installed mySQL.
Oddly, my PHP works in the htdocs folder and htdocs/phpinfo.php comes up exactly as expected. However, i made a folder called Login_beta inside the htdocs folder, and for some reason php will not run on the files inside the new folder. I tried putting the files into the original htdocs folder, and presto! they ran perfectly. i dont exactly want all my files in the htdocs folder....any suggestions/help???

PS if it help, my apache is configured the way in this tutorial(link posted) b/c i used this guide exactly to install everything...im a noob @ web design
