Pickiing up the pieces

I crashed my presario 7478 a few days ago and have a question concerning the restore discs.
I have used them twice in the past but this time they didn't work. I had to install windows 98se (its previous OS) from scratch. That included re-formatting the hard drive.
I've got things up and running now but have a couple of problems.
In print shop, I get the message "unable to display certain fonts" on some projects created earlier. Is this due to a smaller charactor map?
I'm also missing a few other things that must have been factory installed. I'd like to get the system back to the way it was but was told that i couldn't, short of a major re-working.
Any input would be helpful.

 

do you have back up drivers, fonts, and programs on disk that were important for ya?

you'll prob have to install all the programs you were running again prior to the crash

but then you should be good to go

 

I had most things backed up. the 98se that i used to get things going again just seems differant than the 98se that was on the comp. originally.

 

Are you using the Recovery disks or the Quick Restore disks? I know that on my compaq pc they neglected to send me a set of the Recovery CDs with my system. I had to call compaq and have then send me a set. luckly it didnt cost me anything to have them send the new disks.
