Picky post...please help!

I recently replaced the power supply and motherboard on an emachine. Now, it only posts one out of every 10 trys. When I turn it on, the fans turn on and I can hear some action coming from the drives, but nothing comes up on the monitor. The monitor dosen't even come out of sleep mode. I know tha monitor is good b/c I kepp rotating it from my computer to the emachine. Then after a couple of times, it will post fine. Also, see a message when it does post that says cmos battery low. Not sure if it matters or not. What gives???

Perhaps you disturbed the cmos battery when you were changing the psu or perhaps it really is exhausted. They last 3-5 years.

Try reseating or replacement, they are cheap enough. The voltage should read over 3V on a goodun.

I did remove it and put it back after a minute with the same results. I will try another one also.

 

Just replaced the cmos battery. Still only posted one out of four tries...

 

Then you also have motherboard problems or the replacement psu is not up to the mark or the memory is in trouble.
Where did the psu/mobo come from? Emachines stuff is built down to a price.

I bought the replacement mobo at newegg. I know emachines uses junk materials.
