I hope someone can help me on this. I got film developed at Wal-Mart.Ordered the CD with the prints.Had to install software from CD to do anything with the picture's(other than view them). This software sucks by the way-but thats a different thread.OK,so get the picture's on my computer and thought all is well. Then I see that some of my older file's now have a thumbnail of the new picture's on them. When I open a file the correct picture comes up.This happened on about 30 files.Maybe more. The file name is correct, the picture is correct for the name, but the wrong thumbnail on it.I uninstalled the software.I ran CCleaner,Spybot S&D,Ad-aware and AVG.Didn't help.I did a system restore to two different points.Didn't fix it. The picture's come up correctly in Picasa 2.So does anyone have any idea's? Thanks for any help. Allen

    Hi

What OS are you on ? Are you using cached thumbnails ?

There will probably be a 'super' hidden thumbs.db file in each folder containing images. This is a database of the thumbnails for the images in the folder, it sounds like its got corruptified. You could try deleting it (it will remake itself)

Ok.Found the thumbs.db file.Deleted it and went out of the folder and back in and it seems to be fixed. Thank you.

Something similar happened to my mother in law once. I can't remember exactly what I did to fix it, but i know it had something to do with refreshing the thumbnails (which is the direction matt was going).

It was an easy fix, I do recall that.

Windows caches thumbnails for faster viewing a bit like temporary internet files.

Goto Tools -> Folder options in windows explorer. Select the 'View' tab. Uncheck the setting 'Hide Protected operating system files' click yes in the warning dialog and then click ok

Now in your pictures folder you should see a file called Thumbs.db. Select this file and delete it. Close the window and renavigate to the pictures folder.

Windows xp should now regenerate the thumbnails and every thing should look fine.

Now do as you did earlier and reenable the hiding of protected operating system files.
