hello everyone. i have been running my internet from dsl by myself for a coulpe of weeks now. my roomates moved in, they installed a router and now my piolet(music sharing program) does not work. my internet works. i think it may have something to do with a firewall in the routers settings? please let me know.

Went to Piolet help and copied this out. Gave you 2 links also.
    Hope that helps.:)

How to connect to Piolet through a router.

Go to your download or port settings. Select UPD as your transport protocol, if this is not available choose something that isnÕt TCP/IP,
and type in a port you want to open (for example 41102). Go to the Piolet "Config" page and retype that port number.

    Well let's dig deeper.
What OS are you running? Win XP SP2?
    Any 3rd party firewall?
What model and version of router?
Did you look through the other help files and do anything else?

ok...i'm running win xp home. sp 1. i have sygate personal firewall installed. router=linksys wireless G 2.4 ghz. i finally figured out how to confgure the router through an ip address. so i found the page where you would enter the port number, protocal, and the programs name. i do all that and it seems like it doesnt want to do anything at all? what do you think

    thanks, allen

In looking at the Help files, the basic port should be 41170, so try opening that for incoming and outgoing on your router. They also specify a range from 41170 - 41350. I would try that if the single port doesn't work.
I'm assuming that Sygate is still set up correctly since it worked before the router was added.

    My mistake on that.
Did some hunting and you need to set a static IP Address to use Piolet behind a router.
You will need to know the model of the router (for example mine's a WRT54G).
Use the link below for choosing the router -

    http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm (Choose Linksys router model)
Once you've chosen the router model, click on Piolet for the procedure.

On the first line of the procedure there is a link for Static IP Address.
You will need to go through this procedure first before actually setting up the router.

    http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm (Static IP Address)

It's all pretty clear with screenshots to show you what to do.
Post back if you have any questions or problems.
