I had to reinstall xp on my system and after i was all done i tried to burn a cd but the burner would only burn the first 4 songs... the other songs would be there but only the first four would work... this would happen while burning just audio or data. i installed drivers but the same problems occurs. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Val

What burning software are you using?

What method of burning are you using? Eg multisession

Is it just music you are having problems with, and what format are they in?

Please be as precise as you can to assist someone in troubleshooting.

I tried just the folder that comes up that you can fill with stuff and burn.... i tried windows media player... i tried it in both data and audio formats... and they are all in mp3 format... i don't think its the programs issue cause i was burnin' the exact same stuff the same way before i reinstalled windows...

What do you mean by "I tried it in both data and audio formats" "they are all in mp3 format"?

That doesn't make sense. MP3's are data files.

I'm not trying to pick holes in your post, but I can't understand the problem from your description.

"I tried just the folder that comes up that you can fill with stuff and burn"

If you mean the built-in burning software in XP, then don't bother, it's only very basic, as is Windows Media Player.

Try something like CDBurnerXP, or the trial version of NERO, and read the help files if you are unsure.

Just to add, if you think it's not burning that's the problem, then check Device Manager for any errors.

Is the drive displayed correctly with no errors?

Does the drive work OK otherwise?

What operating system are you using?

i meant that i burned the mp3's in data form onto a cd and made an audio cd with them and both came out that only the first 4 work... the others appear but the cd player, computer, or what have you cannot read them correctly.

I really can't help anymore unless you provide some information as requested.

I don't have the computer in front of me, so you need to be thorough and precise.
