I just saw this on CNN, this was un-called for. You don't leave a kid alone with a Pitt Bull, I don't care how long you've had it or how old it is. They are however facing negligence charges so there is at least one plus.

Did you see the dog? It was a PUPPY!

they said it was just a puppy and it ate 4toes. well i think the dog should be put down and the parents should be put in jail. noone should ever let a dog nomatter the size or if its a nice dog near a baby.

The Parents are the problem here.

A side note many cities/communities have banned dog breds such as pit bulls because the danger they present
IMO Pit Bulls should be banned/exterminated across the Globe, along with Stupid Parents/Owners

Puppies chew on things including fingers and toes, until you train them not to....and the "parents" were in the room with the baby and the puppy ....apparently, no one trained the parents!

They have, my mother has a Rottweiler and her insurance company told her she could get rid of the dog or find another ins. company. Insurance companies will not insure your homes anymore if you have a Pit Bull or Rottweiler. It makes sense now because you never know when or if they could get loose.

I volunteer at a humane society and the pit bulls and rottweilers are some of the gentlest, sweetest dogs we have. The problem is ignorant people who think all dogs of this type are mean and vicious because some *** hole owners terrorized, starved, and beat their dogs and were surprised as hell when they attacked someone.

In this case, the parents were completely at fault. Who lets a puppy sleep with their child? Dogs will chew on anything when they are young and their teeth are coming in. You could have put a chiwawa in the same position and it could have chewed on the child's toes. The parents were stupid, and I'm glad they are facing charges as well.

    THANK YOU!!!

Geez Im sick and tired of people blaming the breed. More people are statistically attacked by labs.

Saying that a certain dog breed is all bad is just wrong. There are bad dogs and bad people. We cant just go and start banning and exterminating! There are many other doggy disasters that happen everyday, by many breeds, all over. Pitt Bulls and Rotties just get more attention, and get the spotlight.
Of course if a doggy is just plain bad, something should be done, especially an evil mean 6 week old one!
I'm curious.. Wouldnt the baby cry? Over a period of an hour? were the parents really there?
Any ways, all I'm getting at is leave breeds of dogs outta this...When I was young I was attacked by a Yorkshire Terrior, six stiches as a result, should we ban those silly anklebiters too?
Besides all of that...I hope the poor babies ok:rolleyes::(
Thats all i have to say about that

I think the 'parents' were out as you say, or just drunk/stoned. How could any parent not hear that? Imagine if your toes were bit off, I'm sure I'd hear you up here! Besides who would leave a puppy to poop and pee where it wants like on the baby. Bad judgment on their part.

I totally agree.......this sort of incident really hurts deep with me!

If there's one thing that i can't stand, its incompetence. It's totally avoidable

In the mining industry we are always taught to 'eliminate' the danger in any situation.
I realize that not everyone is afforded this type of 'safety' training, however to me it is simply commonsense!

I would not leave a chihuahua in the same room as a sleeping baby.

Protect your children with your life!!!
