I'm probably the only one and and its probably a simple problem but i bought black and white 2 the other day and i'm having some trouble, i've installed it and all that jazz but when i try to run the game I get an error saying that it only supports graphics cards with pixel shader version 1.1. see read me.txt. I went to the read me file and it said i need to update drivers but i cant for life of me find them. so if you could please please save me from buying a new graphics card i would be much obliged. if it helps i think i have a intel extreme graphics 2.

    Hi and welcome to MajorGeeks.

To find details on your hardware, use EVEREST, which will also provide links for drivers.

However, you only have onboard graphics, which are OK only for general use and internet etc, but not for playing games.

If you have an AGP slot, then you are lucky, and can buy a decent video card and disable onboard video.

Again Everest will tell you if you do.

Intel Grahpics (onboard) doesnt make an IGP that supports Pixel shader 2.0[that i am aware of], you must buy a video card with sufficient power and updated tech to run it. Depending on your $ we can recommend you a few; IGP are low end "word processing" video cards with no power on em.

I thought I was the only person with this problem. My sad little mind is completely below this nifty geek jargon of yours. (AGP?) PLEASE, Dumb it down, with elementary links for me. I NEED To play Black and White 2. thank you.

Here check this out and do it for your own good, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/announcement.php?f=16

AGP is basically a type of socket where your video card fits into. You need to check if your motherboard HAS this type of socket (if you follow the info on top, it will tell you). That - or tell us what manufacture of PC you have, and the model # and we can find out for you.

To sum it up, AGP = your in luck. No AGP = you'll be spending 200-300$ on upgrades :).

PS: B&W2 rocks, but there is a MASSIVE patch out there (v1.01) that you need to download in order for the game to work correctly.

Thankyou all you geeky folk. but i have had more problems still but are now fixed. On friday i went to web systems (a computer shop) and bought a new graphics card, came back home with one of my mates and tried to put it in, then we failed. apparently i've got PCI slots and the card was AGP, this made me rather miffed. so we took a stroll back to websystems to trade it in, and they told me i cant get my money back untill thursday because it's got to be tested.¬.¬
But i managed to find a new graphics card thats PCI for about £40 so its all good.
BTW person who is struggling with their graphics card dont get a PCI-Express which is what i nearly did.

It's very simple if you follow the advice.

Everest, as I suggested, will tell you what expansion slots you have, whether it's AGP, PCI or PCI Express, or if you are stuck with onboard (Intergrated) graphics.

    Whats wrong with PCI-Express?

Well if your motherboard doesn't support it, then it's quite useless right? I'm thinking he meant, he almost bought one when what he needs is a PCI graphics card.
