Spotted this video on Bali which brought back a flood of memories of a wonderful three weeks spent there travelling with a guy I met a year before in Greece. Memories of going to different places on the island and events during the day in our rented red jeep, and out each evening to attend displays, Balinese shows and theatres...spectacular sunrises and sunsets, warm balmy starry nights and the gentlest, friendliest people I've ever met.

Anyone have memories of times, places and events that still produce strong images.

Yes, Bali was and still is a paradise Grumbles. People are starting to be more confident about going there now since the Bali Bombing.

I would love to hear of others' memories here too...something that still produces a strong image as that Bali video triggered for me.

That's sad Dyamond. Surely there must be happy ones just as strong if not stronger?:) It would help to push out those you're wanting to forget.

Thats the sad thing - Those places, those times, those things were part of every aspect of my life. Its hard for me to go back to those places with such sad memories attached to them but if I didnt I'd never go anywhereLOL
Im making new memories at those places and they are going to be good ones this time..no more looking back. As someone very dear told me "You dont drive your car looking through the rear view mirror everyday, so dont live your life always looking backwards" :)

That sounds lovely. You're really attuned to the birds around your area...but then you live in a lovely part of the world too.:)

Just so you are prepared a KY TY is half woman (the top half) and the other half is a man

Wow! Bet you have stories to tell of all the places you've been. Never been to Singapore and the places there you visited sound fabulous.

And you were in Surfer's Paradise (Queensland, Australia for those not familiar) too! That place continues to grow and is still a hot favourite.:)

You certainly have some great memories of places.

i had some wonderful times and have travelled the world at the expense of the British taxpayer, i have had a share of bad things to do in the line of duty but those you stick in a box in your head marked DNR (do not revive)

That's what this thread is all about...sharing. But I don't believe you don't have such memories...you don't have to go overseas for memories of places.;)

I have some wonderful memories of places right here...an Autumn picnic in the Blue Mountains, a crisp, sunny day beside a clear mountain stream with the sound of a nearby water cascade, and bell birds providing "background music".

Ok LS you made me sit and think now about good memories (geez that was hard to doLOL) and now I've got one. This summer a few friends and I went to the beach for a few days and it was nice. lying on the beach, playing in the ocean, eating bad (but tasty) food LOL, playing games, taking pictures and sitting on the balcony of the hotel watching the fireworks. It was great time.

That sounds like a wonderful time with lots of fun stuff going on and sharing it with friends adds to it.:)

    @ KES

reading your post reminded me of a funny incident so as not to embarrass any one i will not give names(he may be a member here)

we used to get frequent visits from the US Navy and at a time the USS HANCKOCK was in port close to our quarters and we were asked to show the flag and extend our hospitality to the servicemen.

now for those who don't know at that time enlisted ranks had to go ashore in whites (the uniforms you see on all the films) we were allocated 3 enlisted men 2 petty officers and a Chief PO we took them to our military club wined and dined them but all they could say was "what about this Boogie street" in the end we agreed to take them after a warning that not every woman you see is bona fide all they would reply was " i know how to tell a real woman" after several Tigers (its strong stuff) they were really having fun but being in uniform were not able to let go, after much cajoling i agreed to let him wear my civilian clothes and needless to say i donned his whites (that's a court martial offence impersonating a member of the military) well off he goes in search of for want of a better phrase "a lady of the night" after about 30 min he returned to say he had made an arrangement with said "lady" and no amount of warnings could persuade him it was possible HE was no LADY.

he was gone only 15 min and he returned looking very pale and regaled the story they had gone to a bar had a drink and went upstairs to conclude the arrangement it was as they undressed the awful truth hit him that the so called lady was a KY TY and had assumed that he knew that but when he told us he had been kissing him/her we all fell about with laughter.

but to end it we drank more beer and enjoyed the rest of the night.
