playing dvd's on tv

running windows xp ...installed interVideo WinDVD....my dvds play fine on my computer.....bought a dvi cable to run from video card to tv....cannot make dvds play on tv........HELP

 

What is your operating system. Is your TV enabled as a second monitor and is your desktop extended onto it?

 

running windows xp home edition........... don't know how to enable tv as 2nd monitor or extend desktop.

 

Right click desktop, properties.
Go to settings tab, advanced.
There should be an option/tab for display.

Do you see any monitors or tvs there?

What type of video card do you have?

 

Click Start, then Control Panel, then Appearances and Themes. At the bottom click Display, then click the Settings tab at the top of the window. If Windows is detecting your TV, there should be two blue boxes labeled "1" and "2". 1 is your primary monitor and 2 is your TV. Click on 2, and if you have a dual monitor card there should be an option to clone your desktop onto your TV (that will display everything on your desktop on your TV, including your movie), or you could check the box labeled "Extend my desktop onto this monitor" then you could drag the movie window (or any other window) onto your TV the same way you would move it on your monitor.
