Playing DVDS

I have an older computer with WIN ME and have never been able to play DVDS on it.I have Windows Media Player 9 series but it never does play them.I also have a built in DVD player in the windows file but it don't play them either.Anybody know what i need to do to get it to play them?

 

It could be as simple as your DVD optical drive needs to be cleaned. Does the drive read any CD's at all?

 

Try downloading and installing one of the many free media players available right here from 'The Geeks' in the Multimedia section, then download and install one of the codec packs (ie; Codec All In 1) before trying to watch the movies. A minimum of 128mb is needed for DVD playback and be sure that you don't have a ton of crap-ola running in the background chewing up system resources. And, as mentioned above, be sure the DVD drive is clean as well as the disc itself... no scratches, fingerprints, etc....

Well i downloaded zoomplayer and all in one codec and still can't get them to play.should i wipe them out and download again using explorer instead of firefox,i've noticed some things don't work right usung firefox.

 

I had this problem and I got round it by installing Cyberlink Power DVD. This has codecs which allow Windows Media player to play DVDs. (even if you never actually use Power DVD to play them)
