playing .mpg files

For some reason I cannot see .mpg files on my computer. now I can play .mpeg avi wmv etc but .mpg will not show the video but I can hear everything. this is what's showing in my media player

What media player are you using? Have you installed a codec pack? I would try installing a codec pack first; I use the KLite Mega Pack. That will probably take care of it. When the KLMP is installed, it checks the currently installed codecs for problems and repairs/replaces them when/if needed. Another option (if you're not comfortable with codecs for some reason) is to install a different media player. A perennial favorite here at Major Geeks is VLC Media Player. It can play just about any media file (audio and video) without needing external codecs, it has them built-in. So give these suggestions a try and let us know how it turns out!

yeah, it sounds like a corrupt codec or something...to add to dlb's post, if you are using a codec pack already, then uninstall it, and reinstall another one.
