    Hello

I used to play two games with Windows 95. One was Caesar, the other Caesar2 by Sierra Entertainment, Inc. When I upgraded to Window98SE, I could no longer play these games. Caesar would come up but my mouse would not work with it. Caesar2 would not start at all. I would be taken to DOS mode, then get the following messages:

The drive entered is not a valid drive

    1) Enter a valid drive letter
    2) Enter <SPACE> to play from hard drive only
    3) Enter <ESC> to exit to DOS

I tried to type "D:" (my cd-rom drive) and would get an invalid drive message. I would then type "C:" (I have it installed on my hard drive and it used to run from it), and I get the same invalid drive message. Lastly, I would try to restart the game (only to get the same dumb messages), enter space, get a message saying "No mouse driver found", the, Windows would restart. this frustrates the hell out of me.

Can anyone please tell me what to do? I like these games.

    Thank you,

    Lynn Tilmon

It sounds like the game thinks it's installed on a different drive than it actually is. It could be a problem with an incorrect drive letter and file path within the configuration file of the game. See if you can locate the configuration file and open it in a text editor. If you can locate the drive path, you should be able to manually change it, if it's incorrect, then re-save it from the text editor. Be sure to back up the file first, though.

If you're using a mouse which plugs into a USB port, that could be the problem. DOS doesn't recognize USB ports.
