Playing video problems

Well I had a problem with my computer with freezing, so I did a full format. Anyways when I reinstalled everything I am now having a problem with playing videos. I downloaded nimo codecs after installing my nvidia geforce 6600 gt oc drivers and ffdshow codecs. I have a few different players consisting of windows media 11, divx, vlc, and winamp. All of the players seem to do the same thing if I load a movie or even a small avi file of like a counterstrike movie or knightonline movie it does the same thing you hear audio only but it skips the computer runs very slow and it shows no video at all. When I play warcraft 3 dota it seems to freeze but I reinstalled warcraft 3 and so far it seems to be working fine now. I would appreciate if anyone had some advice they could give me.

ps. I did notice one weird problem is my directx9.0c is installed but in control panels I don't see it like I used to before i formatted. Also it dosent show up in add remove programs as well dont know if this is the reason or not.


I have a intel pentium 4
syx snc302eeh
cpu 2.60ghz
768 mb of ram which is the max I can install
geforce 6600 gt oc video card
my motherboard is a via tech model p4pb400/8325
my power supply i think is 450 not really sure dont know how to check without having to open the computer but its for sure over 350.



Anyways my second problem is I just bought a western digital wd caviar se harddrive 250gb now when i plugged it in my computer only recognizes it as
127gb. When I use sandra to scan it picks it up as a 233gb so I don't know whats going on with that.

 

its still freezing when i play warcraft3 just not as often as before by the way
