Please advise how to promote my site

    Hi,
    I recently opened a new web site ; which is a gift ideas suggestions site (free service I dont sell anything).
    I don't have money for PR or ADWORDS I tried some link exchange sites but it doesn't seem to help much in increasing traffic to my site.
    If someone has an advice I thank you in advance.

    One thing I wouldnt do and its not good netiquette, is to on your first post on a large membership web forum asking for help in promoting your site is to post the URL link, it "CAN" be concidered spamming for traffic and therefor liable for the thread/post or you to be deleted/banned from a website.

    generally a good step is to email/pm an Adminsitrator of the site and tell them what your promoting and that you want help in promotion tips, they will most likely tell you to leave your web address out as that is not 100% crucial for tips on how to promote.

    other ideas are to submit your site for inclusion on the main search engines, forget the small ones and stick to Google, MSN, Yahoo
